Japanese wood box<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Provenance:<br \/>\n<\/strong>&#8211; Christie\u2019s Hong Kong \u2018The Imperial Sale\u2019, 28 May 2014, lot 3511<br \/>\n&#8211; A private Dutch collection<\/p>\n<p>Shaped in the form of a five-petalled prunus-blossom, the central scene on the cover carved to depict scholars in various leisurely pursuits enjoying the views and the lake with their two attendants; all set amongst gnarled pine trees and rocks. The sides of the cover and base are decorated with five cartouches carved with various floral-sprays set against a diamond diaper ground.
